What’s a donkey called ‘Izzy’ got to do with Jesus?
It’s based on a true story about a young donkey colt and the events that happened over 2000 years ago.
Young readers will be transported to the time of Jesus and experience the stories of the New Testament through Izzy‘s eyes, from Palm Sunday leading to the Crucifixion and the glorious Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
As foretold in the Old Testament, a meek beast of burden and youngest of its kind, is called by Jesus to fulfil his duty.
Izzy’s love for Jesus, shines throughout this story of trust, sacrifice, hope and triumphant joy.
I chose the name ‘Izzy’ which is short for ‘Ezekiel’, meaning ‘strength of God’, a justly fitting name for the young colt.
Zechariah 9:9 … “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; Proclaim it out aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, your King comes to you: he is righteous and saving; He is gentle and mounted upon a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”
